The second annual Fashion’s Night Out was last night and it was a brilliantly fun. I wish I had pictures to compare what I wore last year and this year. Night and day would have been the difference. This year started with me walking out of my office to a tour bus driving by with people dancing on the top to really loud music. There were hummers and limos surrounding the bus and who do I see with a microphone on top but P-Diddy. The Sean John store is right next to where the salon is so that’s where they were pulling up to. What a great start to the night.
I headed up to Saks Fifth Avenue where I was invited by my friend Madeline who works for Sergio Rossi, who was having a big event on the 8th floor. I was welcomed by Madeline who took me around and introduced me to many of the big shots there. Hota Kotb was there dancing behind the music station where the iPod was; cameras were everywhere! I was standing near Francecso Russo (the designer for Sergio Rossi) when I nearly bumped into this gorgeous woman in a red dress. She looked incredibly familiar. I knew she was a celebrity, but I just couldn’t put my finger on who she was. When I went to grab Madeline to see if she knew, she immediately spouted off, “that’s Selita Ebanks, she’s a Victoria’s Secret model.” She was also on the Celebrity Apprentice that Vadim and I got sucked into this past season and that’s where I knew her from. She was incredibly nice, and the camera’s were going nuts over her. duh. At around 10pm the party on the 8th floor was slowing down and as much fun as I was having, I was about ready to head home to Vadim.
What a different world I was in! I was in such a high end store at a high end party with very high end people. Great for an evening. Not sure I could do it every day…but then again, I work at a high end salon, so in a way I guess I do. In New York I have been challenge with how to live in this world but not of it. Which then reminds me about Roman 12:2 and John 15:19. And I need those reminders. Every single day. Because New York City has a way of pulling you in to being so self focused you can easily lose yourself and forget the bigger picture. Which is living for something SO much better than even the best Fashion’s Night Out.

what a great post — and great reminder!
